Axioma Searcher 1.3 Release notes

Software Requirements and Limitations

The Axioma Searcher supports Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista OS. Internet Explorer (6 or 7) or FireFox (1.5 or 2) is required to use the Axioma software. The Axioma Searcher will not work on Linux distributions or on Mac OS. The application for the corporate market doesn't require installation and supports all operating systems as it is a server side solution.

The Narrow feature in the dashboard is limited to a minimum 2 characters search terms. Entering a single character - like the number 1 - will result in an empty results set.

Languages

The current release of the Axioma software works best for English searches. Search terms in languages other then English may lead to unsatisfactory results as most of the software tools were optimized for English. Axioma's technology is generic and future releases of the application will support other languages.

Troubleshooting

The Searcher has a software component called AxiomaServer.exe. This process must run in order for the software to function correctly. The Axioma tray icon indicates whether this process is running or not. If you get an Unable to connect or a This page cannot be displayed error page when trying to search using the program this process may not be running. The Axioma setup installs this process to start with Windows. In case you closed it by mistake or on purpose, you can run it again by going to the Axioma program group and launching the Axioma Searcher.

Usually it would take Axioma about two to five seconds to display the initial results set. From then on the software would respond immediately. However, that initial time deeply depends on the Internet connection speed and its utilization. Heavy usage of the Internet by other software (like sharing services) or sharing the Internet connection with many other users may increase the initial waiting time.

The Searcher will retain a search session for 24 hours from the last time that the user interacted with it. After this time trying to work with such a session will redirect the results page to the application search box. The user must start the search session from the beginning.
